Sandytots is a family-led nursery with over 40 years of experience in childcare. This experience shapes a personal and thoughtful approach, where every child is truly known and families are supported with care and continuity.
With nearly fifty years in the childcare industry, Julie Wetton has spent over a decade as the proud owner of Sandytots Nursery, supporting generations of children and families.
Her career began at the age of 18 when she completed her National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB) Diploma, a qualification she still holds in high regard today.
Julie knew from a young age that she wanted to work with children, and that passion has remained with her ever since. She strongly believes in giving children the opportunity to explore and grow in a safe, nurturing environment while encouraging them to develop confidence and independence.
Julie has continued to grow alongside the children she nurtures and has completed specialist training in Safeguarding and Management. This enables her to create the best possible environment for the children at Sandytots, while supporting the teams who work alongside her to deliver high-quality childcare.
For nearly fifty years, Julie has guided her work by a simple set of values that continue to shape everything she does:
Michelle has been working in the childcare industry for nearly twenty years. After having her own children, she was inspired to retrain as a mature student in 2004, and we have been lucky enough to have her as part of our team since she first qualified, with her talent and passion for childcare seeing her grow from a newly qualified recruit to Nursery Manager.
Michelle’s desire to provide the best possible experience for both her team members and the children in her care has seen her specialise and train in a range of different areas of childcare including Safeguarding, Makaton, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Awareness, Mental Health training and more. Michelle brings her passion for education to Sandytots and is always exploring new ways to enrich the learning experiences of every child.
Michelle believes every child should be given the opportunity to grow into a confident and independent young person. She loves creating engaging, hands-on activities that allow children to explore things they may not always experience at home. Michelle and the team treat every child as an individual, supporting them with empathy, care and encouragement as they develop their confidence and independence.
Michelle’s work is guided by a strong set of values that sit at the heart of Sandytots: reliability, consistency, honesty, integrity, accountability, confidentiality, respect, fairness, competence and loyalty.
These values continue to guide Michelle in the care, support and opportunities she provides for every child at Sandytots.
Hannah began her Early Years career in 2012 and has wanted to work with children for as long as she can remember. She especially enjoys making children smile and supporting them as they grow and develop.
Hannah’s skills and confidence have grown alongside her roles within the nursery. During her time at Sandytots, she progressed from Room Assistant to Room Leader and now holds the role of Deputy Manager, as well as SENCO and DDSL.
As Hannah’s roles and responsibilities have expanded, so have her qualifications. She holds a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, a CACHE Level 3 qualification for Special Educational Needs Coordinators in Early Years Settings, and Level 3 training for the Role of Designated/Deputy Safeguarding Lead (Multi-Agency Training).
These qualifications support Hannah in delivering the high-quality childcare she believes every child deserves. She is passionate about creating a safe, stimulating environment where children can learn, develop and enjoy their days, while feeling secure and supported.
Hannah follows a strong set of values in her everyday work at Sandytots. She strives to always be approachable and to communicate openly, creating a safe and supportive space where staff, parents and children feel comfortable coming to her whenever they need to.
These values shape the caring and supportive approach Hannah brings to her role at Sandytots every day.
